Our Story:
Ambush is not only the way Abandon has come onto the Christian music scene, but it is the name of their recently recorded seven song EP. Ambush fuses together worship and alternative rock to create a unique sound for this San Antonio based band. Abandon is comprised of Josh Engler, Ryan Reavis, Justin Engler, Steven Vela and Dave Vela. They began doing ministry together at Destiny Church in San Antonio. During that time, they had the honor of seeing the lives of people changed as they would soak in the presence of God. Being a part of this ministry created a vision to grow their ministry and encourage others as God leads. This led to a ministry for seeing people living their lives in Christ to the fullest and the band’s desire to encourage as many people through their music. Abandon wants to send the message to people that we all have a purpose for our lives and that their is a God that loves and cares for them. Abandon is a band that has been preparing for wherever God wants to take them and is ready to go where God leads them. “We want our music to be an encouragement to everyone and our songs to be prophetic and minister to people’s hearts,” says the young group. Using energy filled alternative pop rock music similar to bands like Acceptance, and Amberlin. Abandon believes that their music is not only to be an encouragement to believers, but to minister to the hearts of non-believers. Their mission can be summed up in Joshua 22:3 that says, God has directed us not abandon any brothers. The group is serious about investing time into people’s lives and developing what they call a “friend”-based network. The biggest thing Abandon wants people to know is “God’s the way to go!” A new generation longs to hear messages through rock and alternative music. This is the means Abandon uses to deliver this truth to hearts; will you abandon it all for Him?

So, you guys came by Mona Shores High School today, and I basically fell in love with your music right away. Lead singer, doubt you'll remember this, but you touched my hand at the end, and I was just blown away. haha. and the guitarist that is blonde (sorry that I don't know your names).. you're absolutely gorgeous. Hey, I just want to thank you guys for coming to my school. West Terre Haute Middle School. You guys did a tremendous job there. I'm new there so I really didn't know what to expect. Although it was a good performance the 7 project speakers were interesting as well. I can't wait to go to the show on Saturday at Terre Haute Soth High School. It was fun! Pastor Diane sent me your CD. I’m really encouraged by what the Lord is doing for your band. You heard the call of the Lord, and may our good Father continue to open doors for all of you. He has called you at such a time as this to spread the Good News to others in this way, and reach a generation who is hungry for love. May you continue to use your testimonies, voices, and declare that the Lord is good! There is a lot of talent in this band, and I praise God. Your hearts sincerely want to live for God. Continue to worship Him with all of your heart, soul, mind, and strength. As you continue to travel and share the Good News, (even here in Maryland) keep in step with the Lord and “go” as He is sending you. Brothers in Christ, lift up every moment of your lives to God. It is when we surrender all we have that we truly find our identity in Christ. It is only by the Lord’s special favor and grace that He has saved you, and in response, continue to reach out to this generation. Be catchers of souls, and live for what is eternal. As you are freely being overflowed with love, may you freely give it away! Base all of who you are on love. Love each other, the people you meet, people that are hard to love, and your own families. Bank on the promises of God, and may you all continue to be the fragrance of God’s love to others. The harvest is plenty, and the workers of few. Continue to be faithful for what the Lord has called you to, and be encouraged that God has greater things in store for each of you! God loves you.
