
Aaron Kleinstub presently studies as a Post-Secondary Enrollment Options (PSEOP) student, taking all of his high school courses and studying in the jazz studies program at Cuyahoga Community College in Cleveland, Ohio. At Cuyahoga Community College, he studies trumpet with Steve Enos.
With the inspiration of Freddie Hubbard, Chet Baker, Woody Shaw, and Clifford Brown, to name a few; in 2004 Aaron won the IAJE scholarship award for best soloist at the Tri-C Jazzfest. In 2005 and 2006 at the Tri-C Jazzfest, he played the kick-off party at the House Of Blues in Cleveland, and opened up for Wynton Marsalis at Playhouse Square in Cleveland. Aaron is the winner of the Hank Marr High School Jazz Competition in 2006. Additionally, he won a $1000 scholarship to the Berklee College of Music Summer Camp in 2005, and a full-tuition scholarship in 2006.
Besides leading his own quartet, Aaron plays with the Tri-C Jazzfest High School All-Stars, and in the Performance Combo at Cuyahoga Community College. He has played with various national artists including Jimmy Heath, Ted Nash, Matt Wilson, Oscar Peterson, Kirk Whalum, Ira Sullivan, Conrad Herwig, Don Braden, Hank Jones, Barry Harris, and The New York Voices. With his quartet, Aaron plays at various clubs, events, and occasions around the Cleveland area. One commitment included being the house band at Nighttown in Cleveland Heights.
Recently, Aaron was chosen to participate in the Gibson/Baldwin Grammy Jazz Band. With this, he played at the 48th Annual Grammy Awards, Grammy events, and local clubs in Los Angeles, California. Aaron also won the Yamaha Young Performing Artists competition in 2006. Additionally, Aaron was one of 12 students in the U.S who got picked to attend the Vail Jazz Workshop on a full scholarship in the summer of 2006. His most recent achievements include receiving outstanding performance for jazz soloist in Downbeat Magazine, and recieving honorable mention award from the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts (NFAA) in the jazz trumpet catagory, which places him in the top 5 percent nationally.
