Coexist: (Ko-ig-zist') 1. To exist together, at the same time, or in the same place. 2. A band, shared by four friends that write and perform musical and lyrically explosive songs that will indeed rock your fucking face off!!......
Hailing from the depths of Southern California,Coexist is poised on writing and performing ear catching rock songs that will border genres, and stand the test of time. Their emotionally charged music comes from an intense place deep within the hearts and souls of four individuals;James Clifford, Kyle Grant,Derek Krigbaum and Miguel Gilly. They blend rock and punk with heavy pop overtones to create a truly unique sound that inspires and touches the spirit of listeners. In an industry oversaturated with trends and cookie cutter bands that focus more on fashion than music, coexist chooses isolation from shallow scenes and strictly focuses on their art.
Forming in the year 2000 Coexist quickly embraced the DIY philosophy and never say die attitude. They have spent the last six years writing, recording and touring on their own dime. They have released three self produced eps and one full length, all of which were recorded at their managers house. Their tour schedule has been relentless including two weeks on Warped tour 04 and a week on Warped in 05.They have also done countless numbers of indie tours across the southwest, midwest and west coast. It has been through this diehard work ethic that Coexist has managed to gain the attention of fans nationwide.
A Coexist live show is a powerful force not to be reckoned with.Their raw power and intense performances captivates audiences wherever they perform. Frontman James Clifford is a natural. He attacks the microphone with his mixture of haunting vocals and powerful screams. This is a perfect match for the textured, melodic guitar playing of Derek Krigbaum. The foundation of the band lies in the thunderous rhythym section of Kyle Grant and Miguel Gilly.
During Warped 04 Coexist was spotted by the Orange County based indie label Finger Records and were offered a liscensing deal. With no hesitation, Coexist quickly headed back into the studio to record what would become their self titled debut release on a label.Their self titled ep was released in May 2005 on Finger Records.
Coexist is currently writing songs for their upcoming full length album to be released sometime in 07. Look for them on tour all across the US this fall.
