Dorota Wasilewska graduated from the Music School in Warsaw in the class of Actor’s Sinnging and right after she got involved in gospel music band. At that time she sang, composed, arranged all of the repertoire, recorded several albums and finally left the band to start her own artistic way. In between, she won Actor Songs Competition in Wroclaw(in duo with Wieslawa Sos) in 1986, individual award in 1989, another individual award on Youth Talents Competition in 1983.
One of her songs got to semifinals in Billboard Song Competition in Tulsa, in 1991.
She wrote music for TV performance “Love is the Gift”, inspired by Toulouse - Lautrec paintings, (directed by Jan Sosinski).
Her recital, which she composed to the polish baroque poetry “Burning or not ?” has been filmed by Waldemar Stronski for polish TV.
Dorota Wasilewska composed music to documental and short-feature films, like “Not enough to kill”, “None wanted me”, directed by Jan Sosinski and many other small forms.
She was a music director of different enterprises, like recordings of Paolo Conte polish versions albums for Jerzy Menel. Many of them have been published on a big compilation of Conte’s songs(by MTJ).
Dorota Wasilewska is fully mature artist, having unusuall, beautiful voice, using it in many unexpected ways. Her concerts are the meetings with suggestive, sofisticated personality, both artistic and philosophical. Her musicians are excellent instrumentalists, but also her good friends, sharing the same vision of noncommercial art.
She cares a lot for the highest level of the lyrics so a few good poets write songs specially for her. This makes her creation homogenous.
