Late 2OOI - Ric Armstrong and Si Ward decid they
want to form a band by the name of DudeFish.
Several bassists later Ric spotted talent
in his freind Danny Tinker he asked him to join as
a permanent member. In 2OO3 Ric asked co-songwriter
Ben Jackson to join on lead vocals and guitar.
DudeFish were full formed. They spent one year
rehearsing intensly and writing songs in preparation
for their first gig at a small local venue.
For the next ten months or so they were gigging
two to three times a week. During this period
the band managed save enough of the money earned to
convert Bens garage into a practice room with basic
recording capabilities. This free reign over when they
practiced allowed them to focus on developing their musical
skills. In early 2OO5 it became obvious the band would need
their own mode of transportation, again using money from
their period of intensive gigging they invested in a large
van capable of carrying them, their equipment and entourage.
This enabled the band to travel further afield and helped
generate their larger fan base. This continued for the first
half of 2OO5, in the summer they decided to take a break
from gigging and write some new material. During this time
lead singer Ben was approached by James Bourne (ex Busted) to
audition for his new band “Son of Dork”. This was successful
and Ben joined on bass guitar and backing vocals.
He then spent 3 fruitful months recording, practicing and
living in London. However creative differences meant Ben
then left the band and returned home to explore the exciting
future of dudefish. When they decided to start playing again
it was apparent that Si Ward's style didnt fit the future
sound DudeFish wanted to create,he stepped down willingly.
Finding a stand in drummer was no problem. Freind Chris Kitson,
of Chucky No Stars, took time out to help the boys until
they found someone permanent. With the new energy and
creativity Chris brought to practices they found themselves
revamping old songs, really raising the bar for their
new material. In the months since new songs have been
written and Chris has now joined on a permanent basis.
