All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. All work and no play makes Jack a frustrated alternative pop band with remarkably catchy songs, a hyperkinetic live show and an exhaustive work ethic.

Jack has had a breakthrough.

With the release of their first full-length, "Beta", produced by Chris Grainger and Russ Long (Switchfoot, Wilco, Dropping Daylight), steady radio support, a blistering showcase at SXSW, and several MTV licenses, at a time when most bands would decide to start buckling down DC-based Hotspur has decided to start having fun.

"We started out as a very serious band", says lead singer Joe Mach, "it was all about image and marketing and business - we wanted to prove that we weren't just messing around".

With three of the band members graduating with degrees in music business, the business of their music has been textbook perfect. Fortunately for Hotspur, they're also talented artists. They've been described as the sound of rock music evolving. Taking unabashed punk-rock intensity and dance floor energy, boxing it up into chords and melodies, then spraying on a shiny pop veneer and dropping a Korg Triton on it, Hotspur can be more succinctly described as catchy as hell.

Piercing through the formulaic noise of modern rock airwaves, Hotspur's brand of dance-inducing pop rock is not only welcomed, but overdue. With a lethal combination of an eye-catching live show, an arsenal of radio-ready rock songs, charming personalities and heads for this business, Hotspur is finally ready to have some fun.
