Our Story:

Born in 2001 out of the love of the Blues, Johnnie & The Lowdowns keeps true to the roots of Post-War Chicago style Blues, while adding a contemporary twist of their own. With over 45 years of combined professional experience in the band, the members of Johnnie & the Lowdowns know that the song is more important than any one member. It's all about the groove.
While avoiding the obvious and overplayed, Johnnie & The Lowdowns still cover a Who's Who of classic Blues greats, including Muddy Waters, Howling Wolf, Elmore James, Jimmy Reed, BB and Albert King and Willie Dixon, while also giving props to some of the more contemporary and urban Blues artists such as David Bromberg, Son Seals, Houndog Taylor and Junior Wells.

Johnnie & The Lowdowns mixes in a healthy dose of original material, ranging in styles from straight ahead Blues, to Swing and New Orleans, Detroit and Memphis style RB. The variety of music played will ensure that there is something for everyone, including the dancers in the crowd.
They have developed a reputation for putting on a great live show, playing full out whether it is 20 or 2000 in the room. The band has just finished recording their first full length album at The Project Studio in Richmond, Va. The self titled release is in stores now, and available online.
