When Prey for Sleep was formed, their intention was to create a sound that was both heavy and aggresive but also had some depth to it. As time passed and their ideas were realized in the form of songs, they developed a sound that was completely their own. With intensity and passion appearant in every second of every song, Prey for Sleep promises to fill the void left by other metal bands.
In May of 2006 Prey for Sleep cut their first 4 song demo with Todd Perry in his home studio. By the time the cd was mastered and ready to go it was late June,and out of a nowhere a promoter who had heard it offered the band a series of shows in the New York/New Jersey area. The only catch was that the first show was on July 6- giving the band less than a week to be ready to leave. They pooled their money, rented a van, and left.
Shortly after they returned they opened for Deicide, and then started playing shows in their hometown and the surrounding cities. The music was received well by everyone who heard it, and after some time the 4 song demo ended up in the hands of a DJ at 101X, the local alternative rock station. Soon their song, "The Frailty of Words" was put into rotation on No Control and the band was asked to play a 101X sponsored show. After only 3 months of playing out, Prey for Sleep had already established themselves as one of the hardest hitting metal acts in Austin, TX.
Prey for Sleep will enter the studio in early 2007 to record a full length album and has plans to spend the summer touring in support of it.
