Our Story:

SPEEDEALER
Harden Harrison on drums :: Eric Schmidt on guitar
Jeff Hirshberg on vocals/guitar :: a bass player

Speedealer, the possible result of a childhood trauma, is a hard-rocking, hair-swinging outfit made up of four scruffy Texans who look like they'd be just as comfortable working on cars or beating your ass behind a 7-Eleven as they are playing a thrashy amalgam of psycho-tinged, howling rock. Throat-raking vocals and greasy guitars rip through their aural squall with the fury of a West Texas dust storm.

Speedealer first formed in 1992 in Lubbock, TX. The original line-up consisted of Jeff Hirshberg on vocals, Chris Brown on drums, Rodney Skelton on bass, and James Follis on guitar. After a brief hiatus, the band re-formed in Dallas, TX.

Since that time there have been many incarnations of the band. The ex-members are numerous and to explain each departure would take entirely too long, (though many are interesting stories, indeed), but here is the slate: Rodney Skelton, Mike Noyes, Toby Sheets, Todd Mcglaughlin, Mark Baker, Dave Woodard, James Follis, and Chris Brown. In addition, Clint Phillips and Casey Orr have filled in for different tours. Since October of '97 Speedealer's line-up consists of Harden Harrison - drums, Eric Schmidt - guitar, and Jeff Hirshberg - vocals/guitar... and a bassist.

The new album Bleed was recorded on June 10th and 11th of this year (2003) at Top Hat studios in Austin, TX and produced by J.D. Pinkus, former bassist of the Butthole Surfers, current member of Honky. Pinkus has worked with bands such as Dixie Witch, Aereola 51, Daddy Longhead, along with a host of others.

Speedealer feel this record is a fine representation of the band. It was recorded in a day and a half, and all done in one take. They felt capturing the music in this fashion would enable the songs to come to life in an organic way, providing that intangible bond that occurs between listener and artist when the song hits the right spot.

Speedealer has consistently toured for 275 - 300 shows per year since 1996, playing all lower 48 states, Canada, Europe, Russia, and Japan. The list of groups played/toured with is long, including the likes of Motorhead, Pantera, Reverend Horton Heat, C.O.C., Fu Manchu, The Misfits, Joey Ramone, Neurosis, Voivod, Zeke, Morbid Angel, The Supersuckers, Today's the Day, and Nashville Pussy.

The best description of Speedealer's music is that of a blender filled with blood and steel, and set on puree. They are available for dinner parties and funerals.
