With one foot anchored in Southern roots blues tradition and the other stepping boldly into pure rock n' roll—the music of Rhode Island natives The Big Nasty can get down & dirty and raw, with an in-your-face kind of attitude. Using blues as a foundation—rather than a destination—allows The Big Nasty the freedom to take their rock n’ roll to new places. Originally hailing from Westerly, RI, The Big Nasty have been performing together throughout Rhode Island, Connecticut, and Massachusetts since high school and regionally throughout Texas since 2002. Always delivering a full-out energetic assault to the senses, the solid and powerful grooving rhythm section of Phil Agins on bass and Mike Thompson on drums provides the ballast for the powerful and moody sounds coaxed from the Hammond B3 by Kevin Simon and a twenty-two year old guitar virtuoso from Arizona, J.R. Parks. Parks wields a flaming lead guitar that wails with grief and screams with fury. The Big Nasty is blue-collar soulful rock for the workingman with lots of bills and little cash.
