Steve-O' here - Singer/Song-writer of the Indie Rock Power Trio, The Mentals. After a few complications (car-wreck, eviction, girl-friend problems. You know - the usual), we are once again an Austin-based Band. We formed in 1998, played out all over Texas. Some highlights include: “Punk Fest 98” on Fat Cock Records & a Raw Records showcase with “Ultrasonic.” Then hit a fork in the road, took 2 years off (physical therapy after car-wreck), re-formed and started playing out again in 2001 kicking ass & taking names!
Our sound has been described as -

We are an extremely Hardworking and Dedicated Musicians that realize that playing in a band is not all fun and games, it is a passion that gives back to you exactly what you put into it. Our music comes from the heart and soul of us. We believe that a great band must have: Integrity, Passion, 110% Devotion and Faith in their music, Love what they do, and have GREAT SONGS! Our goal is: Reach a widespread underground audience. Releasing Great Songs that have staying power as opposed to being one-hit-wonders. Being true to ourselves always, and when all is said and done, - Being a Phenomenal LIVE BAND!

At the time The Mentals began work on this album, guitarist/vocalist Steve Tobin was involved in a serious car accident which broke the bones in his upper left arm and hand. Needless to say, the studio sessions were put on hold. Rather than lay down, however, The Mentals went to their 4-track recordings and put together this album from those sessions. Tobin says, I happen to love that raw and powerful non-Hollywood sound. And Oh Well brims with lo-fi garage energy and one-take presence. The sound is grungy with a punk fire and lovers of the sound will really dig this. At some point, judging from this pleasureslab, these boys will be bigger than Bob and you'll be kicking yourself for passing this by. Unless you don't pass it by, of course.
