Our Story:

As exciting to see in concert as he is to hear on CD, Travis Rush brings together many of the stylistic influences that define the very best of what has come to be called New Country music. His debut CD, “Come And Get It” may be the standout debut recording by an independent artist this year. Hard rocking, guitar heavy tunes are perfectly balanced by thoughtful and melodic ballads that feature Travis on the piano weaving tales of loves lost and found. With “Come And Get It”, Travis Rush makes his move into the country music big leagues and hits a home run.

Raised in the small coastal town of Gold Beach, Oregon, Travis has been a country boy all his life... In fact, to hear him talk about growing up in a place where the Pacific Ocean and the aptly named Rogue River meet, you might begin to believe that he was destined to someday write extraordinary songs about everyday people living their lives.

\"Growing up in Gold Beach was great. It\'s not very big...you might notice it as you\'re driving through... takes about two minutes and your through the entire town.\"

Music has been a part of his life for as long as Travis can remember, and it probably started with his father playing the guitar and singing harmony with him in the car on the way to school everyday. That led to taking piano lessons in the first grade and the formation of the Rush Family Band.

\"When I was a kid my family band played country music...my Dad had us listen to Glen Campbell, John Denver, Kenny Rogers, Diamond Rio, The Oak Ridge Boys and Alabama, as well as all of the country music my father listened to when he was growing up in Cut Bank, Montana, where we still have a farm. My sister would play the tambourine, my brother played the drums, I played the keyboard and my Dad played the guitar...my Mom plays piano, but she preferred to let us entertain her after dinner...\"

Travis learned early on that singing and playing music was not only good for entertaining his mother, it was a great way to get attention...especially from girls.

\"I have no idea what came over me, but I asked my sixth grade choir teacher if I could sing to a girl in my class on her birthday. Her name happened to be Cherish, so I decided to sing the song \"Cherish\"...it seemed to get her attention so I thought, \'Wow, this is cool!\'\"

After high school, Travis spent a couple of years traveling internationally with the musical and cultural exchange group Up with People, following which he moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in music and theatre. There, he achieved some success as a singer/songwriter, but eventually decided that life in the fast lanes of Southern California wasn\'t where he wanted to be...so he sold all of his musical equipment and moved back to Oregon.

\"I realized that while I\'d already had a lot of amazing experiences in life through my international travels and performing, I hadn\'t really grown up enough to have something to say with my music. I was only 22 at the time...so I went back home to figure some things out.\"

Travis fell in love with the way that country music can affect people, regardless of the language they speak or what their background is.

\"Even if they don\'t understand the words I\'m saying, the emotion that comes out of me when I perform always affects people and makes them feel something...whether they dance, or cry or just want to sit and listen. It\'s always been amazing to me...\"

When asked what he is passionate about, Travis usually has a simple answer:
\"Life.\"

\"I can\'t stand sitting and watching the world go by me. Life is just too much fun. My passion is living.\"

With the release of his debut CD, \"Come & Get It\", Travis believes he has arrived at that point where he not only has lived, loved and experienced enough of life to have something to say, but he\'s excited about sharing it with his fans on the CD and at live concerts.

\"The one thing my fans can always count on is that the band and I will put on a hell of a show, and that I will always be honest in my music. If I don\'t feel the song, I won\'t do it. Every song I record or perform live will always be coming from my heart...I just don\'t know how to do it any other way.\"

Judging from the reaction to his concerts and his \"Come & Get It\" CD, Travis Rush fans seem to feel that he delivers on that promise.
